The Wongan Hills Visitor Centre provides tourists with all the information they could want for exploring the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu.
The Wheatbelt shire of Wongan-Ballidu is a great place to partake in some wildflower viewing or bushwalking, explains local and Wongan Hills Tourism Group President, Melinda Godfrey;
“We have Mount Matilda, which is one of the top five walks in WA. There's also Mount O'Brien that has fantastic sweeping views of the district as well as other walks, and various wildflowers out between June and October.”
Less than 200km from Perth, the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu is easy to get to making it a great daytrip destination. And once you do arrive, the Wongan Hills Visitor Centre should be your first stop.
Built by the Council approximately five years ago, the Centre is manned by volunteers from the local community, and provides tourists with valuable information about the area and surrounds. During wildflower season, the friendly staff will be able to direct you to the best blooms.
