Spend Some Time in Shark Bay

With natural attractions and newly updated facilities, the Shire of Shark Bay is a great place to visit.

The Shire of Shark Bay is located in the Gascoyne Region of WA. As well as Shark Bay itself, the Shire covers Denham, Francois Peron National Park, Dirk Hartog Island and Monkey Mia.

“Shark Bay is a great place to come and visit. It's a pristine environment and there's lots of things to see and do here,” explains Shire President, Cheryl Cowell.

Cr Cowell has been involved with Local Government for 16 years, and in this time has seen a lot of changes, especially for the locals who choose to call this area of WA home.

“Council helps the community by encouraging economic development that opens up a lot more opportunities for locals. We also improve the services and all the facilities and amenities.”

When visiting the Shire, Cr Cowell recommends heading to Monkey Mia and the recently expanded resort there, exploring Dirk Hartog Island and its interesting past or visiting the Hamelin Pool Stromatolites. “You'll have a great holiday,” she says.
