Lake Grace: in the heart of the Wheatbelt

Shire of Lake Grace CEO Alan George tells us about this thriving Wheatbelt region.

Nestled in the heart of the Wheatbelt, the Shire of Lake Grace is a region with a thriving agricultural industry, surrounded by golden wheat fields and far-reaching salt lakes.

Made up of the small country towns of Lake Grace, Newdegate, Lake King and Varley and situated halfway on the long drive from Perth to Esperance, it’s the ideal spot for a stopover on your journey east.

Shire of Lake Grace CEO Alan George says what makes the area special is the wide diversity of landscapes, and being in the middle of here, there, and everywhere. “Lake Grace is at the crossroads between the north and south and the east and west, we're in the centre for a good place to stay” he says.

Stop into Lake Grace for a coffee or a tasting at Walker’s Hill Winery, visit the salt lakes, or check out the impressive Silo art at Newdegate, along with the award-winning kid’s playground and skate park.

Visit the Shire of Lake Grace on your next road trip; “there's more there than what you can see just sticking down the bitumen” says Alan.
