Wildflowers and Windmills in Morawa

Shire of Morawa CEO Chris Linnell talks about the attractions of the area in the heart of wildflower country and a burgeoning astrotourism industry.

Chris Linnell, CEO at the Shire of Morawa talks about the vibrant, welcoming community of Morawa. Only an easy three and a half hour drive from Perth and approximately 140 kms east of Geraldton, Morawa is located in the heart of wildflower country.

Morawa has great community facilities including sporting ovals, recreation center, and a 50-metre pool. The town is currently working on some new opportunities around astro-tourism to utilise their dark skies, as well as looking at developing over 100 kilometres of trail network in the Koolanooka Hills for mountain biking, trail running and walking.

To see the wildflowers in bloom, the best time of year to visit Morawa is late winter to early October. The Morawa Tourist Information Centre can provide details of the best locations to see the flowering plants, and there is a guidebook available to help with the identification of the blooms. Visit the Shire website for more information on the wildflowers of Morawa.
