Why City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett enjoys giving back to the Community
My name is Logan Howlett, I’m the popularly elected Mayor of the City of Cockburn and have been in that role for 10 years.
I'm enjoying it, previously I have been retired for 16 years now. So I’ve been giving back to the community, volunteering with my wife Pat.
I’ve been involved with Local Government for 20 years, the last 10 years as the popularly elected Mayor of the City of Cockburn. I got involved because I wanted to enhance the power of our volunteering base and also to bring about significant change in how we communicate with our community and bring about change, to address the needs and aspirations of our community.
Our community is full of people with a passion for living in an exciting and vibrant community, people who have had a long tradition, families going back several generations and importantly the lifestyle choices that we have from anywhere between the coast and the rural settings in Jandakot and Banjup.
Our Council involves our community in a number of different ways, in engaging them and the way we are going, and the way we go forward in terms of our strategic community plan, our long term financial plan and all the other strategies around all of that, which invite our community to have a positive influence in what their needs and aspirations are, going forward.
