Take a Trip to the Turquoise Coast

The Shire of Dandaragan has plenty to offer visitors, especially its fantastic stretch of coastline.

The Shire of Dandaragan is located in the Wheatbelt region of WA, 200kms north of Perth. The Shire boasts a coastline as well as country towns and national parks.

Shire President, Leslee Holmes loves the diversity of her Shire and the community in it. “[The Shire’s] got a very diverse selection of people and jobs and it’s absolutely amazing to be involved in a community that's got so much going on all the time,” she said.

The towns of Cervantes and Jurien Bay are popular with visitors thanks to the Pinnacles and activities such as skydiving that are run out of the towns, but Cr Holmes prefers somewhere else – “Favourite of all places would be Sandy Cape - I think it's our jewel in the crown.” Located approx. 10km north of Jurien Bay, Sandy Cape is a great place to camp.

To see the inland areas of the Shire, including “all the beautiful, little towns”, Cr Holmes recommends driving the Dandaragan Way. Although small, both Badgingarra and Dandaragan have plenty of history to offer visitors.

“Next time you want a holiday, come to the Turquoise Coast. We're two hours from Perth and we have everything to offer,” urges Cr Holmes.
