Surf and Sun in the Shire of Dandaragan

Encompassing the coastal communities of Jurien Bay and Cervantes, CEO Brent Bailey shares what the Shire of Dandaragan has to offer.

Set out for a drive north of Perth and after a short two hours you’ll come across the sparkling blue waters of the Turquoise Coast.

Dotted along the coastline you’ll find the townships of Jurien Bay and Cervantes, and further inland the rural communities of Badgingarra and Dandaragan.

The first stop on your route is the Pinnacles - towering limestone pillars jutting out of the golden sands - located just inland from Cervantes. Stay for sunset for striking photos, with the Pinnacles casting long shadows across the landscape.

“If you're a West Australian you need to experience the Pinnacles, come up for an evening picnic and hang around a bit longer for the stargazing” suggests Shire of Dandaragan CEO Brent Bailey.

Once you reach the Turquoise Coast, you’ll find it’s is an idyllic holiday destination with a range of activities – including snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing, hiking, camping or just kicking back and watching the sunset.

While in Cervantes, join a sea lion tour, or stop in for a seafood lunch at the popular Lobster Shack.

Just north of Jurien Bay you’ll find Sandy Cape Recreational Park, a fantastic spot for swimming, fishing and sandboarding on the nearby dunes.

“So next time you're planning your weekend getaway, go north, go against the traffic, come up where it's warmer and experience what we've got to offer” says Brent Bailey.
