Rural Life in Laverton

Shire President Patrick Hill describes what its like to live in the remote Goldfields town of Laverton.

Nestled north of Kalgoorlie in WA’s remote Goldfields region, the Shire of Laverton offers a unique outback lifestyle.

The town has a close-knit community and boasts friendly hospitality, whether you are just stopping over on your cross-country adventure or looking for a lifestyle change away from the hustle and bustle.

There are plenty of work opportunities available in the Shire, from small business to mining and tourism. With the almost complete ‘Outback Way’ road project across the country linking Perth to Alice Springs and eventually Cairns, tourism is set to boom in the town in the coming years.

Shire President Patrick Hill says he wants to develop tourism and plan for ways the town can best cater for the incoming tourists with the Outback Way. “It’s a major project at the moment” he says.
