Council CEO, Adam Majid shows why everyone should visit the Shire of Nungarin.
Are you planning on travelling to the Wheatbelt region of WA soon? If so, you may want to add the Shire of Nungarin into your itinerary - after all it’s a great place according to Shire CEO, Adam Majid.
“We are a great little town, with great many things to see and great people.”
Located three-hours’ drive from Perth, the Shire of Nungarin is only 30-minutes from Merredin, which is located on the Great Eastern Highway, making it an easy stop when travelling to/from Kalgoorlie and Perth.
“To get the most out of experiencing Nungarin, you actually need to stay at least a couple of nights,” says Adam. “[Hit] the bush trails, the drive trails, the local pub in the evening and just get to know the locals around and about.”
Popular natural sights in the Shire include Eagle Stone Rock, Lake Brown salt lake and the wildflowers and woodlands of Talgomine Reserve. If history is more your thing, then the Nungarin Museum and Mongowine Homestead are worth a visit.
“Next time you're heading out east, drop in and see the Shire of Nungarin,” urges Adam. “The Shire of Nungarin is a special place because we have a small community, with lots of love to give and offer for visitors”.
