Shire of Kondinin President Sue Meeking talks about her role on Council and attractions of the area such as Wave Rock, Hippo’s Yawn and Mulka’s Cave.
Hi my name is Sue Meeking, I am the President of the Shire of Kondinin and I'm a farmer on a farm north east of Hyden.
I've been on the Shire for nine years, and I got involved because I wanted to see what I can contribute and also because in our small community, everyone volunteers at one job or another. And this was one that really interests me. I love living in the Shire.
It's a wonderful community with very supportive people. But apart from the wonderful community, there are some amazing natural attractions in the Shire of Kondinin, including Wave Rock, Hippo's Yawn, Mulka's Cave at the Humps and the ANZAC Horse at Yeerakine Rock.
Our Council provides infrastructure such as roads, amenities for the locals and it's also responsible for the amenities for the large tourism industry in the Shire of Kondinin.
I encourage everyone to get involved in the Local Councils. A diverse range of opinions is really good for the community.
When you're in the Shire of Kondinin, please make sure you see all our natural attractions and enjoy the local hospitality.
