Hear about the Shire of Coolgardie Council’s work for the community.
The Shire of Coolgardie is special because of its residents, explains Shire CEO, James Trail,
“There's been a lot of adversity through ups and downs in the mining industry, but we have a very, very resilient community.”
This resilience makes for a close community, and that means that the Council is available to the Shire residents when they need it. There are community groups which are supported by the Council and there is also a dedicated community fund that is used for events and services.
“We’re very proactive in listening to the community,” says James.
The Shire boasts two recreation centres, plenty of parks and a 50-metre pool that residents can use between the months of October and March. Another swimming pool is currently under construction in Kambalda.
