Shire of Woodanilling Chief Fire Control Officer, Dale Douglas demonstrates the vital steps to follow when camping.

There are some very important things to remember when camping with a fire, explains Chief Fire Control Officer for the Shire of Woodanilling, Dale Douglas.

“When camping, with a camp fire, you need to make sure that you do it a safe way and light it in a receptacle,” he says. Dale also recommends having a bucket of water and a shovel on hand to ensure that you can extinguish the fire fully.

What is the most important thing that Mr Douglas wants campers to remember?

“Check the camp fire regulations for each Local Government, they do differ.”

If you need more information on the local fire regulations for your next camping trip, be sure to visit the Council’s website or talk to the local Fire Control Officer.
