A Snapshot of Menzies

Take a look at what life is like in the Shire of Menzies.

Shire of Menzies President, Gregory Dwyer has been involved with Local Government since 1995. The gold miner originally got involved with the Council to represent the mining community within the Shire.

The population of the Shire is spread out across the town of Menzies and its surrounds, and the Tjuntjuntjara Aboriginal Community which is close to the WA/SA border. “We're very interactive with the community, of course, because of the lack of numbers. It's easy to interact with the communities,” explains Cr Dwyer.

Council’s ongoing projects include sealing the road to Lake Ballard and maintaining the waterpark in Menzies. Last year, a youth centre was opened in the town and Cr Dwyer is pleased with the addition,

“It's very good to have that in town.”
